Spring inspired porcelain decoration workshop in Leicestershire
Share
I spent the ideal Sunday morning yesterday at Kelly Mcrobie's @kmcreativestudio, South Leicestershire, garden studio instructing a delightful group on creating Spring/Easter themed porcelain hanging decorations.

Inspired by my samples we learnt how to work with porcelain, impress textures, add embellishments and cut out our chosen shapes to make unique decorations like mine below...

Once the clay was rolled out we explored my collections of stamps, rollers, stencils and cutters. At this point, silence had descended, as everyone was engrossed in the process and materials...

Once the decorations were made we discussed colour and the application of underglazes. We learnt the best way to highlight the beautiful texture they had added and how to paint them to achieve the best results.

I'm sure the ladies would agree, Kelly was the perfect host, keeping us all fuelled throughout with tea, biscuits and even a homemade cake! It really was the perfect way to spend a Sunday morning. And for me it was just lovely to be out the studio and to meet new people.

These were the results, and I think you will agree, there are some lovely pieces. It always amazes me given the same materials how different everyone's creations always are!
Now they are all drying slowly in my studio and I'll pop on a transparent glaze before high firing them next week.
If you are feeling inspired and fancy a go yourself then please do make sure you are signed up to my mailing list. I only e-mail occasionally with news and events but you will be the first in the know of new workshop dates. I'll be announcing some very soon :-)
